Hi, we’re Bella Cavanaugh and Julia McIntyre, the co-founders of Cheers, a platform for individuals seeking to decenter alcohol from social ventures. From bike rides to book clubs, app users will pursue their interests in like-minded communities that embody an uninfluenced path. Cheers will promote lucid individuality, unlike any current social platform.

The seeds of Cheers were sown throughout our decade of friendship, spanning the phases of young adulthood as we navigated socializing in an increasingly disconnected world. We’ve both experienced the isolation that can come from choosing a sober path or simply seeking a more mindful, grounded way to live. Traditional social scenes often revolve around drinking, leaving a gap for real connection. We realized this wasn’t just our problem but a widespread challenge for millions.

Existing social platforms and event services consistently fail to foster the authentic, lasting, and judgment-free connections our broad demographic truly seeks, falling short of the desire for intentional, alcohol-free social experiences.

Observing a burgeoning sober curious movement and increasing interest in selective socializing and wellness, we have decided to take matters into our own hands. Our story and experience make us uniquely emboldened to empower a cultural shift. We believe people will be likelier to leave their homes if they know the social environments they enter will be for uninfluenced, like-minded individuals.

That’s why we’re creating Cheers.

Cheers will be an application available for iOS and Android. Users will be able to view a range of local events suited to their interests and curiosities, hosted by people who have been verified and vetted by Cheers. These hosts will undergo interviews and background checks to ensure all events listed on the platform are both enriching and safe. The app will initially launch in Seattle and quickly scale to other major cities.
