As I sit in my small room, surrounded by sketches and notes for my next film project, I can’t help but reflect on the journey that has brought me to this moment. My name is Akash Wilmot, and I am a student at the School of Visual Arts, where I am pursuing my lifelong passion for filmmaking. Ever since I was a child, I have been captivated by the power of stories told through film. The ability to evoke emotions, inspire change, and connect people from different walks of life has always fascinated me.

However, the path to achieving my dream is not without its challenges. The total cost of my education each year is a staggering *$54,494*. After applying for financial aid, which generously covers *$37,004* of that amount, I find myself facing a daunting balance of *$17,494*. This breaks down further into *$8,747* per semester, a figure that feels overwhelming when considering my family’s financial situation.

My single mother has been my rock throughout this journey. She works tirelessly to support us both while juggling multiple jobs just to make ends meet. Her unwavering dedication inspires me every day; however, despite her hard work and sacrifices, we are struggling to cover this remaining balance. It weighs heavily on my heart, knowing how much she does for me and how difficult it is for us financially.

In light of these circumstances, I am reaching out with a heartfelt request for support. Every contribution, no matter how small, will bring me one step closer to realizing my dream of graduating as a filmmaker who creates meaningful and impactful stories.
