Hello everyone! I have been on a journey to find a way to help others for a very long time. About a year and a half ago, I dove into accelerated nursing courses and strived for excellence knowing how competitive nursing school is.
I just received two acceptance letters today, but also lost both part-time jobs I had the same day. I will not be able to go to school and serve my higher purpose without help! I have lived in the same small town all of my life and want to be able to really make a difference here. My plan is to complete accelerated BSN school, and immediately move directly into a RN-to-DNP program or MSN to DNP program because as a Doctor of Nursing Practice I will be able to create the changes we need from inside the medical system. Understanding how the medical system works from my own personal experiences, as well as having a background that allows me work across various realms of academia and partner with all sectors within healthcare.
I pride myself on always doing what is best for patients, and I have constantly been striving to broaden my knowledge and expand my skill set.
If you have not revisited the loan process recently, its a disaster! As a student who did not use FAFSA the first time around, and having completed a bachelor's degree, nursing (a Bachelor of Science in nursing) is set up as a "second undergraduate degree" not a post-bachelorette or graduate program, and this excludes me from get aid that is in anyway beneficial. Takin out personal loans at this time, have a compounding interested rate of the lowest of around 15% up into the high 20s, that just unreasonable for student loans. I am excluded from using PELL grants, and don't qualify for much if any of the normal amount a student would be given in aid. I think the approximate amount is around 7,000. Which will not get anyone very far!
This is why I am asking for support, Please!
As a “second degree” student seeking a nursing degree, I'm not eligible for scholarships via most institutions, and have not been fortunate enough to have been awarded any grants at all yet. I’m willing to work hard to get where I need to be. I’m determined to succeed and make this work.
I am trying to find any odd jobs, cleaning, or HomeHealth related, but this will not be enough. If you can find it in your heart to donate something small or large, whether you know me or not, understand that your donation means something and is going toward making an outstanding, well-rounded, patient-centered provider who really wants to work toward actively changing the healthcare field.
I have a plan, and truly want to make significant changes in how healthcare is approached, and how people are able to receive care. I know I can do this. Being able to pay for an accelerated ABSN program is the start of my journey, and the catalyst to promote waves of change within the healthcare community.
I have been accepted in to all three schools I applied to, but one doesn't give aid to nursing students at all, the other doesn't determine aid until the end of December (term starts January 2), and the 3rd, hasn't given me many details on how to even attempt to apply to scholarships that "may" be left, although it was made clear that nursing students are not first on the list to receive any type of aid
If anyone would like more information on the exact cost of the programs, you can contact me, or I can try to figure out how to post a pricing list. But unfortunately, accelerated nursing is approximately $85,000 for one year in the northeast.
Please share and consider donating! This is my calling in life, and with your help I know I can be successful.
EMORY BSN Nursing Costs:

Quinnipiac ABSN Program Costs:

All of the above listed expenses do not include a computer that has to have specific requirements, certain programs that are not provided through disability services through the schools, or travel expenses (for example gas cost for around 65 miles each way, 3 times a week for clinicals, as well as up to 4 days in class on campus as approximately the same distance).
