Ever since I was young, I’ve had a deep and genuine desire to help those in need.
Whether it was through small acts of kindness or volunteering in my community, I always
felt drawn to serving others. That desire has only grown stronger over the years and has
become a driving force in both my personal life and career goals. One of the dreams I have
held since childhood is going on a mission trip to serve communities that may not have
access to the same resources and opportunities that I do. That’s why I am incredibly
excited about the opportunity to travel to Costa Rica and take part in a mission dedicated
to helping others in meaningful and lasting ways. I believe that this experience will not only
strengthen my love for helping people but also contribute significantly to my personal
growth and development as a future nurse.
Helping others has always brought me a deep sense of purpose and fulfillment. The
chance to provide care, comfort, and support to individuals who may be facing medical,
financial, or emotional hardships aligns perfectly with both my values and my long-term
career aspirations in the healthcare field. Going to Costa Rica will allow me to immerse
myself in a different culture, witness life from new perspectives, and broaden my
understanding of global healthcare needs and disparities. I know this journey will come
with challenges, but I’m confident that the rewards, both emotional and educational, will
be life-changing and unforgettable.
My stepmom went on a mission trip with Norwich University to Nicaragua, and the
stories she shared left a lasting impact on me. She spoke of how eye-opening and
humbling the experience was. She spent time working in clinics, connecting with the local
community, and witnessing firsthand how acts of service can change lives. Her words have
stuck with me, and hearing about her journey only fueled my desire to do something
similar. Her experience showed me how powerful it is to step outside your comfort zone,
embrace new environments and give your time and energy to those who need it most. I
want to follow in her footsteps and use my passion for healthcare and service to make a
difference in the same way she did.
As someone pursuing a career in nursing, I know that the lessons I learn in Costa
Rica will extend far beyond the classroom or clinic. Being able to assist in real-world
situations will enhance my practical skills and shape me into a more compassionate,
adaptable, and culturally aware caregiver. I believe that service is not just an aspect of
nursing, it is the heart of it. Being able to care for people from different backgrounds will
help prepare me for a future where I can make a meaningful impact wherever I go.
This mission trip in MARCH 2026 is more than just experiencing another country’s culture. It represents a step forward in my lifelong commitment to service. I’m ready to embrace every challenge, learn every lesson, and bring hope and healing to those who need it most.
I already have my passport and two suitcases to be filled with clothing, medicines, sports equipment and shoes. In order to make this happen, I need to raise enough money to get me there.
Thank you
