- Well, hello! As many of my friends and family know, in March of 2019, my life changed drastically. I found myself alone in North Carolina, in the hospital, paralyzed from the neck down. I couldn’t move at all. I went to the emergency room and found out that I had an abscess in my neck from using drugs. I contracted a MRSA blood infection, and it was pressing on my spinal cord, hence the spinal cord injury. It’s what they call an incomplete SCI because it wasn’t severed completely, so there’s still potential for feeling and movement to come back. And it did! After laying in bed for 3 months, I finally got into a physical therapy rehab, and that’s where I got the most movement back. After all this time, I hit a hiatus where it stopped coming back, and I hit a plateau. But I was able to walk with a walker!
- A few years later, I found myself sick again. After losing half my body weight and having diarrhea for months, I was in and out of the hospital again. After months of being sick and not knowing, I found out that I also have Crohn’s disease. So, yet another obstacle in my way because I got so weak during that time that I couldn’t even walk with my walker anymore.
- After getting on the right meds for the Crohn’s disease, I’m starting to pick up the pieces again and would really love the help of my family and friends. Any help at all would be appreciated because I can’t work, I’m on disability, and I really can’t afford to live and pay my bills. It’s become really difficult because I’m having to go through more therapy and stress, and it’s taken a toll on me. I’m not sure where else to turn!!
- I’ve also really wanted to get approved for a power wheelchair as I only have a cheap one from Temu right now. The battery doesn’t last that long, and my insurance keeps denying to approve one for me. While this one works, I would love to be able to buy myself a nice new one that will get me around town without having to worry about the battery running out. It would improve my quality of life greatly. Again, any help would be appreciated. Thanks for your love and support!!!
