Empower a Future Black Social Worker

I began my journey advocating for and educating communities about HIV prevention and treatment, inspired by my late grandmother—a proud pillar of the Howard University community. In honor of her legacy, I pursued my Master of Social Work at Howard, where I have grown not only as a student, but as a servant leader. Throughout this journey, I have had the privilege of studying abroad in Cape Town, South Africa for a service-learning experience, serving as a representative in the Graduate Student Assembly, and leading Howard University Models INC—mentoring and training aspiring models as they navigate both the challenges and triumphs of collegiate life. As a Black man in social work, I recognize the urgency of my presence in this field. While Black or African American professionals make up approximately 19.9% of the social work workforce, Black men represent only a small fraction of that number, highlighting a critical gap in representation. I believe it is both my purpose and my calling to continue this work—to advocate, uplift, and be a beacon of hope for communities that often feel unseen. With God’s grace, I am asking for your support to help me overcome a remaining tuition balance of $16,981.00 so I can graduate on May 8, 2026, and fully step into the profession I have been called to serve. Every contribution brings me one step closer to the other side of my purpose.
2 Corinthians 9:8: And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
