Emory's Heart Surgery
Donation protected
Emory is one of the sweetest little boys you could hope to ever know. He is full of life and all boy. From a distance, it would be hard to tell that Emory, was diagnosed with both a Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) and an Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) in his heart, 18 hours after he was born, and at age 2, a Coronary Defect diagnosis was added as well. As an infant, his parents were told that he could suffer a heart attack at any moment. Since March, his symptoms like chest pain, nausea, and disorientation have been a growing burden to him and his family. After multiple trips to children’s hospitals in Nashville, Boston and numerous tests, his heart was described today as " A ticking time bomb" and his doctors said that "they have never seen a coronary artery so malformed.”
Emory’s surgeons wanted to wait until he reached the age of 12, due to the severity and potential complications of operating at such a young age. Today, multiple Doctor's and surgeons agreed that his Right Coronary Artery is so severely malformed his surgery must happen at half of the age they were hoping for. Please pray for this family, for the parents, and for Emory. If you can give, please do, if you can’t, prayers are needed more than money. God is in control, however the financial challenges this family face are significant, and not easy to recover from. Any way that you can help, prayers or financial, may be the answer to one of those prayers.
Emory’s surgery will be at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital and we expect to have the date very soon to share. I know that Emory and his family greatly appreciate your prayers and support, and so do I. We will update this post as we learn more, and are looking forward to celebrating a little boy who will once his surgery is complete, will be free to be the lively and loving little boy he was made to be.
Let's all pray, support, and show Emory we are behind him.
