Emon Barnes was wrongfully convicted when he was only 15 years old. He has spent the last 19 years in locked up in prison, fighting to prove his innocence. He contracted COVID-19 in San Quentin because prison staff housed him in a cell with a COVID-positive inmate. Miraculously, Emon survived despite his underlying health conditions. Thanks to the efforts of his legal team at Loyola Project for the Innocent and Head Deputy LA District Attorney Bobby Grace, Emon was re-sentenced on September 4th and ordered released forthwith. Emon and his legal team will continue to fight to prove his innocence, while Emon is on the other side of prison walls. On September 11, 2020, Emon walked out of prison as a free man!
Please help welcome Emon home for the first time in his entire adult life!
