Emmitts medical relief fund

  • We know everyone is struggling, so of course please keep praying or sending us good vibes and well wishes, but we are still going to be commuting down to Phoenix when we can to see our little guy and every little bit goes towards these medical bills, gas, and seeing our strong baby boy.

Emmitts surgery update
Yesterday the surgery turned out to be more unexpected than what the surgeons and doctors had thought it would be. When they went in they found a portion of his small bowels had rotated on itself and had died off essentially because of the lack of blood supply. It was completely green and rotten, liquified to the touch. They had to remove 20cm of this dead small bowel, he was left with 80cm of good small bowel to attach to his other good intestines, he needed exactly 80cm of good bowel before it would’ve been to short of intestines, to attach, and then they wouldnt have had enough bowel and they would’ve had to attach it to the outside of his stomach for a colostomy bag, if he had any less than 80cm. He literally needed 80cm of good bowel, and he literally had 80cm, to the exact measurement of good bowels you guys. That is a HUGE miracle, we were at the doorstep of an insane close call, all your prayers and support over our little guy 100% showed in this miracle. He needed 80cm, he has exactly 80cm left, and he was reattached and as long as the surgery now holds no leaks or issues, and he starts to heal and thrive he should start being able to eat within the next coming weeks, and his bowels should start functioning after. He’s still in critical care and will be healing for awhile but we made it you guys!!!!!! ❤️‍ Also another beautiful miracle he didn’t get sepsis from all the dead bowel that was inside of him, it didn’t open up into his blood stream and make him extremely sick as it could’ve. We were right there at everything possibly being the worst case for his diagnosis but there was enough of his bowels that it wasn’t short gut syndrome, and he didn’t get sick from having sepsis and we are so relieved in the care he’s getting, and we are beyond thankful for everybody who’s been following his story, his journey and supporting us, and our sweet little Emmitt he can now start feeling better everyday and hopefully soon he can eat and we can take him home in the next 4-8 weeks or however long it takes his body to heal. Thank you again for all your love kindness and prayers seriously we are so grateful for all the love and support that surround him and our family, Please feel free to reach out to me about any questions. ✨ He’s going to make it you guys, he’s going to make it.

With heavy news we found out at our baby boys anatomy scan that something was showing up as “abnormal” and got referred to an MFM specialist in Phoenix for further testing. After that ultrasound they concluded he had an obstruction in his large bowels and they were dilated and swollen, and needed to be monitored for changes and growth. Corey and I also were tested for any genetic conditions that would contribute to this, and Emmitt was tested for any chromosomal issues, all came back negative. After two weeks we went back down and were told it was worse, I was high risk and would have to go to deliver in Phoenix and we had to be seen at Phoenix Childrens Hospital for a fetal MRI and another ultrasound. The MRI and ultrasound concluded that he indeed had some obstruction or blockage in his large intestine and that he would most likely need surgery at birth to correct his bowels. So far the good news is, his other organs look fine and he’s developing fine in other aspects just his intestines seem to be of compromise or concern, if he can’t poop at birth it’s a fatal condition without surgery.
We don’t know for sure but the chances are heavily leaning that way. With multiple trips to Phoenix just starting, a ridiculously high deductible, some testing not covered by insurance, endless medical bills adding up, travel bills adding up, and the possibility we will have to stay in Phoenix short term, long term? It’s been financially hard since we weren’t expecting these medical bills, and we are a one income family with two toddlers and with the outlook of the situation we are extremely tight. This medical fund will go to the rental cars needed to travel to Phoenix since our cars aren’t able, the gas, the hotels, the medical bills, and financial support to our family during this unforeseen time. We appreciate all your kind words, support and prayers. We will update as this journey continues, he’s due in 8 weeks but can come at anytime and we just pray we will be able to take our baby home after all this.
With all our hearts. Corey, April, Hollis, Mint, and baby Emmitt.
