Emmit's Place needs your support

Hi. It's Susan. I run Emmit's Place. I love music, and I have spent the last decade trying to keep the stage at Emmit’s available for musicians at all levels of their careers. I am very proud of the students who have learned to spread their wings on Emmit's stage as well as the world class artists that we have been honored to be able to work with.... It saddens me that I am going to have step away for a few months. I had surgery this week and have been diagnosed with cancer. I will require at least one more major surgery and chemo in the next few months.... I will not be able to do any more heavy lifting, and it will not be safe for me to be around so many people all the time.... I never minded working without pay because i love what i do- but Emmit's will need to be able to pay staff to take on my workload starting almost immediately.

I am blessed that my husband has insurance and lots of patience. I am in good care, and I will be fine. I do not need anything- except time to focus on getting through this ...But Emmit's Place will not be able to support paying for another 70+ hours of labor each week. My only ask is to donate what you can to help support Emmit's Place and keep the doors open in my absence.

Update: March 30- I had my surgery on Monday, and it was worse than they predicted. I have a 12 inch incision. They removed a 5 and a half inch diameter tumor, plus smaller tumors, did a radical hysterectomy, took my omentum and appendix, and pieces of my liver, diaphragm, bladder, and colon. I will not be able to do any physical work for quite some time... and I will need to start chemo soon. I am hopeful and in good hands-but I will not be able to focus on Emmit's like I have for the past 10 years. Please help me keep the music going in my absence.
