Emmett Brock’s legal fees

Donation protected
On February 10, 2023, Emmett was beaten by a law enforcement officer to the point of a concussion with cuts and bruises all over his head, face, arms, legs and back. Emmett had committed no crime, and after being physically assaulted by the officer he was then wrongfully arrested. Emmett lost his job due to this wrongful arrest, and has had no income since the arrest. He has had to pay a $100,000 bail, fees to get his car out of impound, an attorney’s retainer, and medical bills from a hospital that did not treat him (he sought his own care after being released.) Not only was he assaulted and wrongfully arrested, but he was then also discriminated against for his gender identity while detained and was placed in a women's holding block upon revealing he was transgender. This entire experience has been immensely traumatic and grossly unfair to him. Emmett is a graduate student at CSUF, a teacher, and a relentlessly kind person who is always willing to help others (especially his students.) Anyone that knows Emmett knows that these charges are completely false and have no basis in the truth. Since he won’t ask for financial help, I’m starting this GoFundMe to raise funds to assist with Emmett’s legal fees and lost wages due to this wrongful and false arrest.
Thank you all for your support and generosity!

UPDATE: As of July 26, 2023, Emmett is still facing two misdemeanor charges, meanwhile no punishment has been brought against the deputy who assaulted him. Emmett is still without an income and without a job and is still paying back legal fees out of pocket. Although his bail was exonerated, all the money paid to post his $100,000 bail will not be returned to him or his family.

Please continue to share Emmett's story on any platforms you may have. His story has been shown on multiple media outlets such as ABC, NBC, CNN, Daily Mail, and the New York Post. If you happen to see these stories please share, repost, and retweet so that this reaches as many folks as possible.

Emmett wants to express his sincere gratitude to all those who have donated, shared or reached out to show support. He cannot thank you enough for this incredible outpouring of love, generosity, and humanity.

UPDATE: As of yesterday morning (8/10) Emmett’s case was dismissed by the DA, and all charges were dropped! He is still without a job and is still waiting to hear back from his former place of employment. Emmett will now be in the process of trying to receive a declaration of innocence in addition to the case being dismissed. Thank you for everyone that has donated, shared, and continued to donate! The support has been out of this world incredible. Thank you!
