A message from Quinn and Jordan Jevens:

"It is with the heaviest heart that I share this today:

Quinn and I are once again living a nightmare. This past week, we learned that our precious baby Emmett tested positive for the very same disease that killed our first son, Jerry. We were so darn hopeful that the hours of weekly injections my wife endured during her pregnancy would prevent this disease from reappearing. These injections reduced the chance of Emmett testing positive to less than 10 percent, but it did not work. Emmett is now fighting for his life at Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago under the care of the GALD experts (GALD is the deadly disease). We are asking you to send as much love, positive vibes, thoughts, and prayers as you can spare during these tough times. For those that are able, we have also set up this GoFundMe to assist us with housing costs while we are in Chicago for the foreseeable future and would appreciate any contribution, no matter how small.

Emmett was born on Friday, June 5, and it has been a whirlwind ever since. He was tested and results were read by the end of that very day. He was transferred to UW to heal an unrelated stomach perforation and by Monday, June 8, Emmett was packed into a helicopter and med-flighted to Lurie Children’s Hospital.

Our hearts are aching, you guys. Instead of watching our friends and family squeeze and smush our baby boy’s rolls, we are once again watching healthcare worker after healthcare worker poke and prod him with needles and fluids. Instead of hearing that healthy, newborn scream every few hours and finding ourselves wondering if he’s hungry or if maybe he has some gas, we are once again sitting here listening to the rhythmic beeps and bops of the monitors and finding ourselves wondering if he feels any pain or if he is stable. Instead of counting the passing time based on the number of times we have rotated our pajamas because of baby spit-up, we are once again counting the passing time based on the number of times our nurses have rotated their shifts. The worst part is the fact that this is all too familiar.

This time we caught it early. We jumped into action and Emmett is with the experts. We packed up our lives as well as Emmett’s big sister, Jaelynn’s, at the drop of a hat and moved hours away to make sure he gets the care he needs (and we would do it over and over again if it means he will be okay), but we are being told it will likely be weeks if not months. We have temporary housing in Chicago, but the city is expensive and we are paying all of this on top of our normal expenses. Insurance has *knock on wood* been working with us so far for the medical bills. However, it is the housing, food, and travel costs that have us worried.

Thank you in advance for your donations, love, prayers, encouragements, and sharing our story. It is going to be a long road.

With much love,
Jordan and Quinn"
