Help Send Emma to Tanglewood!

Hello! My name is Emma van der Veen and I'm a junior at Palo Alto High School. I am interested in many different things, from diving to journalism to music, specifically violin. I have been playing the violin since I was five years old and am part of the first violin section of the Peninsula Youth Orchestra. I have the opportunity to expand and grow my passion for music this summer, but would love to do so without putting a huge financial burden on my parents (who are also musicians!).
I was recently accepted into the Boston University Tanglewood Institute Young Artists Orchestra (link for more information: http://www.bu.edu/cfa/tanglewood/program/yao/), a 6-week summer orchestra program from July to mid-August that is connected to the Boston Symphony Orchestra at its summer home in Lenox, Massachusetts. This is the program of my dreams (I cried on the quad at school when I found out I got in)! But the tuition alone for the program is about $7000, much more than my family can afford to put up at the moment, no matter how much they'd like to. I made this page to try to help ease the cost and to take some of the pressure off of my parents. All of the money from this fund will be put toward tuition and transportation costs.
Being part of the Tanglewood YAO this summer would be an incredible opportunity for me to be surrounded by students who have the same interests as me and that want to improve their own musical capabilities as much as I do. I believe that music is something that connects people of all origins, beliefs, and ideals, and that should be shared as much as possible. I would love to have the opportunity to share my music with other students from across the world, and helping to send me to Tanglewood this summer would allow me to do that, so please donate!
Any amount you are willing to donate, however small or large, is greatly appreciated by my family and me. For any concerns, please contact me through Facebook messenger (https://www.facebook.com/emmavdveen). Thank you!
Special thanks to Adee Newman for all photographs, my private teacher Mariko Smiley, my brother Alex, and my parents, Janet and Greg.
