Emma's YOLO list - fighting Leukaemia

Hello! I'm Sarah, Emma's Auntie. I set up 'Emma's Smile' on Facebook so a group of her family and friends could start fundraising for Emma to tick things off her "You Only Live Once List". Many people have now asked us to set up a Go Fund Me page as they want to donate money, so that's why we are here!

 

Emma was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) 1 week before her 16th birthday on the 15th November 2020. She successfully completed 4 rounds of agressive chemotherapy, and 6 months exactly to the date of her diagnosis, she walked out of hospital for what we hoped would be the last time, and on the 8th June 2021 the results from Emma's final bone marrow aspirate confirmed that no Leukaemia could be found and she was officially 'Cancer free'

 

Fast forward 4 months later, we received the heartbreaking news that Emma has relapsed, and this time she will require a Stem Cell (Bone Marrow) transplant. Due to Emma turning 17 in November (during treatment) it means that she has to be transitioned to a 'Young Persons Unit' at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. Emma is still undergoing chemo and is waiting for a donor.
