Anyone who knows me personally, knows that there's nothing besides acting that I've wanted to do (quite literally) my entire life. When I started at ASU, declared as a theater major in the acting concentration, I didn't feel completely fulfilled. I realized I needed more. I wanted to learn more and do more with myself, I knew acting was the root of my passion, but it wasn't my entire passion. So, I decided to declare a second major in Film and Media Production (on the directing track). The past 3 years have made me realize I've got a lot more than just acting to say. Directing has allowed me to see my visions through with actors- combining everything I love.
As I am approaching my senior year, I have just completed writing my thesis film titled, Mother Knows Best. I have secured an amazing core team: a driven producer, Tosha Ishmon, a talented director of photography, Bri Hemulth, and a hilariously gifted editor, Aiden O'Hale. With these 3 on my team, I have no doubt that we will create our best work yet. Currently we are working hard to get pre-production completed (casting, fundraising, locations secured, etc.). During the 2021-2022 school year we (along with a full cast and crew) will shoot and finish post production on the film. The film will be completed by March of 2022.
Synopsis of the film:
The film follows Drew, a 17 year old girl who lives in a rural town in Arizona. Drew tries to escape her boredom by meeting new people on the internet. But when Drew's old fashioned mother finds out she's using the internet to meet new people, all hell breaks loose. Drew decides to escape her seemingly controlling mother and drive to her friend's house. On her way there, she runs out of gas. Drew finds herself finally meeting new people- and it isn't as great as she hoped it would be. Because after all, mother knows best.
However, we can't make this film to its full potential without any funding. Which is why we're asking anyone who can, to help support us. We need funding for: transportation (we will be shooting the majority of the film in Tucson,AZ), crafts & services (food/drinks), special equipment, insurance, hair & make-up, props, costumes, etc. (the list goes on!)
There's nothing more than acting that I am completely passionate about, so if there's one thing I can promise, you won't be disappointed with the acting in this film!
This film is a crucial part of our future. After graduating, it will be what we show future employers/collaborators, so it is a very crucial stepping stone into the "real world". We also hope to submit the film to several film festivals, in order to get our work seen. We need all the support we can get, so please share and donate, anything and everything will be beyond appreciated. We want to make all of our supporters, family, and friends proud!
Anyone who donates will also be invited to a screening of the film in either Phoenix or Tucson, AZ.
