Hi All! My name is Chrissy Hudson, and I am raising money for my niece Emma and her mom Katie. Emma has battled cancer twice in her 12 years of life. When she was four months old, she had trilateral retinoblastoma and was able to beat it after chemo and a stem cell transplant. Fast forward ten years, and she was diagnosed with Metastatic Osteosarcoma. The cancer was in the tibia and her lungs. Her plan of care was to remove the tumor in her shin and treat the small nodules in the lungs with chemo. They would use a cadaver bone to rebuild her leg and try to save it. It looked like it would work initially, but she had infections requiring IV antibiotics and multiple additional surgeries to clean her leg. The teams did everything they could to save her leg, but they decided that the best course is to amputate her leg. They will do the surgery on 10/21, and she will recover extensively afterward. Emma is a fighter and has a wonderful attitude about all of this. I have never met someone as strong as Emma. I am so proud of how she has dealt with all that life has thrown her.

Due to all the treatments and surgeries, my sister Katie cannot work. She has already used all her FMLA and has no PTO left to use. This surgery and the recovery will require many doctor visits and traveling to Orlando for prosthetic appointments.
