Hello, my name is Mary, I am the proud momma of a beautiful, strong, joyful, caring girl named Emma. Emma is a 3-year-old little girl who was diagnosed with Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy at birth. Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy is a brain injury caused by decreased blood flow or oxygen to the brain. We were told in NICU Emma’s future would be a wait and see. However, Emma is battling against the odds and showing she can do more than any of the Doctors thought she could.
Due to Emma’s brain injury, she has a diagnosis of cerebral palsy, dysphagia and global developmental delays. We work hard every day doing therapies and activities that will stimulate her mind and teach her adaptive techniques.
Emma is going to an intensive therapy at NAPA Boston. This is her third time, and we believe she will benefit greatly from the therapy there. She will be doing occupational therapy/physical therapy, dynamic movement, and speech/feeding therapy daily for three weeks. After the last session Emma was able to sit on her own! She is now scooting across the floor on her bottom! We are excited to see what she will be able to do after the next intensive.
We are asking you to join us and donate towards Emma’s therapy. Your donations will be used for several things for Emma. Unfortunately, insurance only covers a certain amount of the therapies Emma does. All money donated will assist with
- covering the cost for physical, occupational, and speech/feeding therapy not covered by insurance. One session is $160 dollars each.
- travel expenses to get to Boston and stay there for the three weeks.
