Emma’s London Marathon Run for Oakley

On the 3rd October 2021, I will be running the London Marathon in memory of Oakley. Oakley passed away aged 15 on the 30th April 2020, only 7 days after his family were given the devastating news that he had an aggressive stage 4 Brian Tumour.
I have known Jenny and Mark for many years and grew to know them more closely when Oakley and my daughter ran together in Juniors. The loss of Oakley has been felt tremendously by his family and friends. Oakley always had a smile on his face and was a fabulous runner; he always supported his fellow team mates and encouraged them to do their best. He also had a chuckle at me when I was trying to get from one side of the course to the other, so I know he would be chuckling at me doing a marathon!!!
This is going to be a huge challenge for me as I only started running again a year ago when I decided to run the 15k for Oakley. I have started to increase my miles in all weathers trying to get ready both physically and mentally for the marathon.
Any donation will be greatly appreciated and will be presented to the Neurosurgery team at Alder Hey Hospital, where Oakley was cared for by the world-renowned Head of Neurosurgery Mr Conor Mallucci, Mr Parks and Oncologist Mr James Hayden. They and their teams made every effort to help Oakley and support his family. They are a team committed to saving and improving lives and the care they gave Oakley was outstanding.
The incidence of Brain Tumours in children is increasing and your donations will help an amazing team of doctors and nurses who are in high demand on a daily basis. The money will help support the training of student surgeons and provide essential equipment and technology needed to help increase survival rates.
