Emma's Hope: Conquering Aggressive Lymphoma
Donation protected
Hello everyone, I’m Kelly and I’m the mom to this beautiful, loving, amazing girl, Emma Page.
Before 12/30/24, Emma was a full-time college student about to start her second to last semester before graduating. While in school, Emma was also working and preparing for her big internship this Spring. She lives with her boyfriend Trey, and they were looking forward to an exciting future as both were finding their mark and way in the crazy world.
With that being said, Emma had been struggling for some months with fatigue and chest pain. After months of not knowing, she went to the ER on 12/30/24 when the chest pain was too bad to ignore, and while there, they found a mass. A big one. It’s nestled between her heart and lung. After a few surgical biopsies, we received the diagnosis no parent wants to hear for their child: it was cancer. Emma has Primary Mediastinal Large B-cell Lymphoma. It’s a very rare form of lymphoma, only accounting for 2% of lymphoma patients. It’s an aggressive cancer, but we caught it before it spread out of her chest. Lymphomas in general respond really well to chemotherapy, so we are hopeful for Emma’s prognosis.
All of Emma’s appointments and treatments will be in Green Bay, WI, at the Cancer Center there, close to an hour from home. She will undergo extensive chemo. To start, she will have 6 rounds of chemo every three weeks. She will have an infusion on Day 1 of each cycle, which will take the whole day. She will go home, and then we take her back in the morning to be admitted for 5 days so she can get her 4 other chemo meds on a continuous IV 24/7 for Day 2-6. She goes home later in the day on Day 6. Then we go back for Day 7 in the morning for more treatment. She goes home the same day and stays home for 2 weeks. Then the cycle starts over again. This is going to be extensive, taxing, toxic, and exhausting for Emma. Anyone who knows Emma knows she doesn’t run away from hard work or a challenge. Emma is going to fight- and she’s gonna fight hard.
We are expecting Emma to start chemo this upcoming week. Because of Emma’s age being so young (with the verification it hasn’t spread outside her chest), they allowed Emma a few weeks to get fertility treatments going so she could freeze her eggs since there is a high probability that the chemo will cause infertility. Our sweet baby girl has a hard road up ahead, so we are asking for some help. Due to Emma’s condition and the extensive treatment she will need, she is not able to work. We are creating this account to help Emma, Trey, and her family cover some costs that Emma and her family will be facing. The money donated is going to her out-of-pocket costs after insurance, money to help with gas for all the driving back and forth to Green Bay, and monthly expenses she will not be able to cover due to not being able to work. We are so thankful for everyone who has offered support to Emma, Trey, and her family so far. We appreciate any help during this time, from a donation to a big hug. It all means so much♥️
