Emmanuel Bonhomme Amputation Recovery and Housing

Emmanuel Bonhomme has been faced with a variety of challenges for many years due to severe and life-altering mental health issues. He has received several diagnoses over the last 7 years that have impacted his ability to navigate his way through day-to-day life, including his ability to work. With the support of his family, Emmanuel has done his best to cope with these issues.

On February 8, 2024, Emmanuel was diagnosed with necrotizing fasciitis, a flesh-eating bacterial infection. This infection was so severe, he required amputation from mid-shin down on both of his legs. He is currently under the care of health care professionals in Washington, DC.

For Emmanuel to continue to get the help he needs he must continue to receive intensive rehab. Unfortunately, Emmanuel does not have the quality insurance or financial means for adequate continued care. Unfortunately, in the United States, high quality insurance options are next to impossible for the less fortunate to obtain.

Therefore, this GoFundMe is being created to offer Emmanuel the assistance he desperately needs to work through these life-altering changes moving forward. Emmanuel will need support with, but not limited to, things such as accessible housing, wheelchair, prosthetics, and both current and future medical expenses in the United States. All donations collected will go towards giving Emmanuel the best quality of life possible, as he tries to navigate his way through this very trying time.

Emmanuel, just like anyone, deserves the opportunity to properly heal, rehabilitate, and learn to navigate these life-altering changes and challenges he is currently faced with. We are asking for any donations to help get Emmanuel the rehabilitation he requires. Here is an update on Emmanuel (Manny),

Want to say thanks to each of you for your generosity, support, kindness, and for keeping Manny in your thoughts. Manny continues to progress both physically and mentally.

Due to this progress and the support from all of you, we have been able to get him an appointment to get fitted for a socket for prostheses! Once fitted for the socket, they should arrive in approximately 1-2 weeks. Then the goal is to get him the prostheses he can afford at this time and start to learn how to use them. Then we will knock on doors and seek out all possible resources to get Manny the prostheses and continued rehab he needs to ensure he has the best quality of life as he gets used to this new normal.

All the support we have received from this fundraiser is going a long way in getting him much better care than he would have if not for this.
