Emmalynn's Medical Care and Related Expenses
Donation protected
Emmalynn, a sweet eight-month-old, has endured a lot in her short lifetime. When she was two and a half months old, her parents, Sterling and Christina, began noticing a rash that spread all over her little body, worsening each day. It became apparent that the inflammation caused significant discomfort as Emmalynn started to cry constantly and sleep little. She had to be monitored carefully to keep her tiny fingers from scratching at her skin and opening wounds.
In the search for relief, Sterling and Christina consulted doctor after doctor, but instead of getting answers, they encountered more questions and increasing concerns. Doctors initially determined that Emmalynn suffered from severe environmental and dietary allergies, but none of the prescribed remedies seemed to help, with some of them making the condition even worse. In addition to skin problems, blood tests revealed very low cortisol and sodium, among other issues.
After several doctor's visits and three trips to the ER in four months, medical experts diagnosed Emmalynn with an infection and adrenal insufficiency. These diagnoses still don't explain everything, including the cause of the rash. However, the third ER visit and subsequent hospital admission put the family into contact with a large team of experts dedicated to Emmalynn's care. Doctors finally prescribed a treatment that has brought Emmalynn some relief while they wait for further test results. In response to this treatment, Emmalynn's skin has cleared, and her discomfort has ceased. She now smiles happily and sleeps well.
Along this challenging journey, the family has incurred several expenses. In addition to medical costs, they have had to purchase air purifiers, new furniture, and professional ductwork cleaning to address allergies to dust and cats. They've also incurred travel expenses with trips of 160+ miles round trip to see various medical professionals. The family anticipates future costs related to medical appointments, testing, and medication as they continue to diagnose and treat Emmalynn's condition.
Sterling and Christina thank you for your loving support and prayers. God has been faithful in providing answers and showing love through family and friends like you.
