Emma's FFS Recovery Fund
Donación protegida
My name is Emma and I’m a 32 y/o trans woman living in Los Angeles. In October, I received my long awaited Medi-Cal approval for Facial Feminization Surgery. Up until this point, FFS has been both something I felt I didn’t deserve or could ever financially manage on my own. Luckily, insurance will cover the burdensome cost for the surgery, which can easily exceed tens of thousands of dollars.
This gender affirming surgery will finally allow me space to process, calm and diminish some of the day to day gender dysphoria that I experience.
Your support in this fundraiser is a means to help cover my living expenses, which generally amount to 1,500$/month, as well as equipment and supplies that will help during the recovery process. More recently, my income has been primarily dependent on providing care work for my partner who is disabled. During recovery, for at least 4-6 weeks, I’ll have to largely discontinue that work in order to give myself time to properly heal. Your support will certainly ease my financial anxieties during a fragile time. Additionally, funds will be used to purchase a decent blender/ juicer for the post surgery diet, pillow wedges, ice packs, skin care etc. I’m seriously so happy to finally see this surgery through and I fully appreciate the privilege of these medical resources.
My surgery date is set for January 6th at UCLA. The gender health program’s care team will be leading the surgery and they have been absolutely amazing through every step of this process. The team’s experience, attention and understanding of trans healthcare has really left me feeling seen and completely at ease.
I’m deeply grateful for any help or support you’re able to provide during my recovery. Ty♾
