Emma runs New York Marathon as fundraiser

Hi,
My name is Emma Pugh, Business Manager at RVW Pugh and I am running New York Marathon on 3rd November as part of the Massey Ferguson Team. I am raising money for 2 very special causes.

Firstly as the MF team we are running to raise money for Massey Ferguson colleague Howard Warnes. Howard’s partner Laura, who was diagnosed with Acute Hemorrhagic Leucoencephalitis (AHLE), a very rare form of ADEM inflammatory disease of the brain, whilst seven months pregnant with their daughter. Thankfully, their daughter Esme was born 10 weeks early without complications last December. However, Laura has a long road to recovery ahead. We are raising money to adapt the house along with buying a specialist vehicle for Laura to get to her rehab sessions and visit her much-loved horses.”

Secondly I am also raising money for local charity the Lingen Davies Trust. They are a charity that covers the Mid Wales, Shropshire & Telford area supporting people who have been diagnosed with cancer. I have chosen to support this charity as 2 of our salesmen at the Churchstoke depot have been diagnosed with cancer and under gone surgery and treatment this year. I feel if they can keep coming to work and trucking on the way they have through the process the least I can do is dedicate my marathon pain to them and try and raise some money for the great work that the Lingen Davies trust does.

This is a huge challenge as I only started back running in Mid March this year. I am what you would call a “rusty runner”. In my 30’s I ran a few half marathons and was lucky enough to run London Marathon back in 2017. However since the birth of my second child in 2019, my trainers have been sat on the shelf collecting dust! When the opportunity came up to enter the New York Marathon as part of the Massey Ferguson team, I thought it was the motivation I needed to pick them up again. I have never been to New York so I am very excited to see the sights by running through the City. I have heard the spectator support there is phenomenal.

As for training so far, I have loved getting out and discovering new routes. Running around Mid Wales is beautiful. It’s been hard going back to square one and having to put any thoughts of a PB out of my mind. My first 2 mile run was a killer and I thought to myself, what have I signed up to! It is a juggling act fitting in the training as the mileage volume goes up with a young family and running the business but as Agricultural Machinery dealers, we are always up for a challenge!

Thank you for taking the time to read my page and I hope you can donate to these very special causes.
