On February 5th Bill and Liz Inman got a phone call that no parent wants to get. Their daughter Emma was in Beaver Dam visiting friends, they were snowmobile in a field when they hit a drainage ditch and Emma flew off the snowmobile and became seriously injured. She was first transported to Beaver Dam Hospital where she was stabilized, and then transferred Emma to UW-Madison. Emma then endured many hours of surgery, first on her right leg, she broke her femur which they put a rod and two screws in and they repaired her left ankle, then they moved on to her left leg where her tibia was broken so they put a plate and 4 screws in. Once they finished the first couple of surgeries, she was moved to American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison. On Monday they found that she also broke her right ankle and her right heal which then sent her back into surgery and now she has two external pins holding the ankle together with more screws for the ankle. Liz and Bill have been able to stay at the Hospital with Emma and she is projected to come home on Friday. With Emma needing to be in a wheelchair for an undetermined amount of time, there will be a lot of unexpected costs to make everything wheelchair accessible in their house, which their insurance will not cover. Emma will need a lot of therapy and more surgeries to remove some of the pins and screws. Liz and Bill have limited vacation time which means they will have to take unpaid leave to take care of their daughter. Please pray for Emma, Liz and Bill and if you feel so inclined, please help them cover the unforeseen costs of time off of work, a wheelchair ramp, travel costs to multiple appointments and more.
