We found out on Sunday, March 24th that Emma has sepsis. Sepsis is a life-threatening complication of an infection. Sepsis occurs when chemicals released in the bloodstream to fight an infection trigger inflammation throughout the body. This can cause a cascade of changes that damage multiple organ systems, leading them to fail, sometimes even resulting in death.
Emma is battling sepsis right after having an infection of both Covid-19 and Flu B last month. She is on immunosuppressive chemotherapy treatment that weakens her immune system. Leading to this current infection.
Emma has been admitted to the hospital and isolated to a room on her own. Nurses and doctors can only enter in gowns, masks, and gloves. We’re trying to keep Emma from getting any additional infections.
She has been dealing with breathing problems, chest pain, and an incredibly high fever. Today her fever hit 103.3.
Emma cannot return to work at this time. We don’t know when she will be able to. She has had to use funds towards items that make her more comfortable in the hospital. Please consider helping her cover expenses such as rent, electric, and other bills! Thank you so much!
If you’d like to send Emma a card please reach out for her address.
