Hi, I’m Austin, and I’m kicking off this fundraiser for my younger sister, Emma Genereux.

After over a month of urgent care visits and doctor appointments, she realized something was seriously wrong. She called me the morning of August 31st and asked if I could take her to the emergency room because her nausea and pain had only kept getting worse.

After some bloodwork and eventually a CT scan and MRI, the doctors found a tumour in her brain located in an extremely delicate spot called the 4th ventricle, right next to the brain stem. The next day, they performed emergency surgery that was estimated to be 4-6 hours and lasted 8 hours. They were able to remove as much of the tumour as was safe and have sent a sample to the lab. The doctors believe it may be an ependymoma, which could mean there’s still a long road of treatment ahead, potentially including radiation treatments. Emma will need further scans to check if it has spread down her spinal cord.

Emma’s an amazing, brave, and strong person. She’d never ask for help herself, so I’m hoping to raise some funds to help her with living expenses: rent, bills, lost wages, rehab, groceries, etc., during this incredibly difficult and stressful time. Any support you can give helps ensure that Emma can focus on what matters most - her healing and recovery.
