Emma & Bryan Need Your Help to Stay Afloat

Hi everyone. My name is Emma and my brother’s name is Bryan. We live in an apartment together with my 3 cats (Olive, Jacks, and Matcha). I am a middle school theatre teacher and well, my brother’s between jobs. That’s where your help comes in.

My brother lost his teaching job in June after being surplused by the county due to budget cuts and increased class sizes. After that, he got a job full time subbing, but our county does not offer PTO or any kind of benefits for subs. After a ton of (unpaid) snow days, he is currently being forced to take off from work due to unforeseen circumstances. The county is not offering any kind of paid leave and all of his job applications since before June have led to dead ends. Since he is still technically employed by the county, he does not qualify for unemployment benefits.

I have been helping out where I could and helping to cover bills, but I am only a second year teacher so I was living paycheck to paycheck before all this. The two of us have even been donating plasma to help cover expenses.

I am hoping to raise enough money to cover his half of rent for 2 months. By this time, we are hopeful that he will have a new job or we’ll have found some other way to cover rent.

I have a hard time asking for money, but if you could spare $1, it would help us immensely.
