Hello,

My name is Emma Rojas, and I am 19 years old. I am currently a college student at Santa Monica Community College.

I am raising funds for my mom because she had a terrible medical emergency this past June. She fell when missing a step, which resulted in her completely breaking her left ankle. So much so that when I saw how she looked on the floor after the fall and looked down at her ankle, I couldn't believe how her foot was completely hanging as if by a thread. She was wearing long pants, but I could tell something was poking out from under them, and I knew it was the bone. Her ankle broke so badly that the bone came out completely. She was taken to the emergency room, and just after that day, she had surgery, which took about 2 hours, and they put in a metal plate on the left side of her ankle and 2 screws on the right side. Being in great agony of pain, she was given medications for the pain. In the last 2 weeks of June, the pain was at its maximum, but as time went on, the pain started to lessen. Her ankle, even to this day, is very fragile, and of course, she had to take time off from work.

My mom is a nanny and she takes care of 2 girls, the oldest being 3 and the youngest being 11 months. She needs to be able to move a lot. Due to her being absent from work for such a long time, we have been going through hard moments, both emotional and physical, especially for my mom. Being a single mother and us having just each other for support, dealing with the bills, household, and meeting appointments concerning her broken ankle has become overwhelming. This resulted in me having to align my college education not only with my personal responsibilities at home, but also with the additional responsibilities that come with my mom's incapacity.

Due to this terrible situation, I am reaching out for some help. So that my mom and I, as the team that we've always been, do what we do, survive, and face the issue with faith in our hearts.
