Patrick’s Medical Fund
Meet our miracle baby!
Sara and I are happy to announce our beautiful boy Patrick has entered the world on July 22nd at 10:10pm. At birth he weighed 4 pound and 2 ounces, and was only 16 inches long. He is currently staying at the Inova Medical Center NICU with some of the most amazing medical staff we have ever met! Patrick is the most precious thing in the world, but he has a long road ahead of him for recovery.
We believe Patrick was born with several different health complications generally known as VACTERL which stands for vertebral defects, anal atresia, cardiac defects, tracheo-esophageal fistula, renal anomalies, and limb abnormalities. In Patrick’s particular case he was born with twisted and shortened forearms with no thumbs on either hand, a imperforated anus, missing a kidney, hypospadia where his urethra exits at the scrotum, as well as having spinal issues and a few fused ribs that we are waiting to get more information about. Patrick already has had one surgery to give him two stomas one of which is connected to a colestomy bag to bypass his imperforated anus while the doctors assess how to best treat him.
Our goal is to raise money to help cover the expenses of his following surgeries and follow up appointments. He will need at least two more surgeries to reconstruct his anus and reconnect his intestines. He will need at least one surgery for his hypospadia, with many follow up appointments. After those, we also will be looking into him having distal surgery to potentially move his pointer finger to become his thumbs and following therapy to correct as much of his forearms as possible.
We will post updates as we know more, but for now Sara and I are staying close at the Ronald McDonald house nearby where we can visit him any time day or night. We hope to bring Patrick home soon, and we thank you for your support and prayers.
