Emiola's Study Tour: Amos Bursary New York Experience
Spende geschützt
Hello Everyone!
I hope this post finds you well.
My name is Emiola Oke and I am a BSc Neuroscience and Psychology student, actress and photograher.
I am fundraising to reach £1500 for a prestigious international opportunity I have been selected for! The deadline is mid July as I am supposed to be leaving the UK towards the end of the month.
As a scholar of the Amos Bursary since 2022, I have had the opportunity to obtain a plethora of opportunities and experiences. The Amos Bursary is an organisation for African and Caribbean heritage students for personal and professional development whilst providing financial support throughout university.
I now have the opportunity to participate in one of their international experiences. This year, I successfully gained a place on the New York Study Tour Experience where I will be immersing myself in the city's corporate and historical culture in the Summer. This includes a tour of the UN, kindly organised by Baroness Amos, our co-founder. Going on this study tour would allow me to increase my understanding of the industries available to me beyond the UK. It is common to reside in the country where you have grown up, but I anticipate this experience will expose me to opportunities outside of this.
As a charity, these experiences are not possible without donations. I am currently fundraising to assist me with this opportunity I have earned.
By donating you will assist me with:
- Essentials for Living - Accommodation, food, travel, insurance, immigration
- Educational and Cultural Expeditions - Harlem and Brooklyn Tours,
- Institutional Experiences inc. Company insight days - e.g. CNBC studios
- Personal Development opportunities - e.g. Workshops to develop my creative and professional skills
- And much more!
Let me tell you a little bit about my time at the Amos Bursary so far and why this is a great cause...
I have benefited from being in an environment where I’m surrounded by those who are like-minded in ambition and creativity whilst also looking like me. I’ve been supported by various staff members who have contributed to a sense of belonging. I've had the chance to attend developmental workshops where I've honed in on professional attributes such as communication, body language and interview skills. I've learnt more about myself through the Lumina Spark programme and attended various prestigious institutions especially from some of our sponsors such as the Ideas Foundation, Linklaters and PWC. I have also had the opportunity to give back to the bursary and community by volunteering at the Pepperpot Centre, Powerlist Black Excellence Awards and being a meet and greeter for prospective AB students.
I look forward to hopefully embarking on this amazing journey in New York.
If you are able to, I would appreciate your help in fundraising.
Any amount would be much appreciated!
Thank you.
Have a blessed week,
Emiola
