Three years ago, many of you walked alongside our family as my sister, Emilyy Winslow (Cuillerier), began her battle with cancer. Your prayers, messages, support, and generosity carried her through some incredibly difficult moments, and we will never forget that kindness.
Since then, she has continued to fight with unbelievable strength, courage, and grace.
After finishing chemotherapy in September 2024, her cancer remained only in her lungs, and she spent much of 2025 making beautiful memories; travelling, spending time with loved ones, and checking things off her bucket list. It was a year filled with hope and precious moments.
But over the past several months, her cancer has progressed aggressively.
Scans have shown rapid tumour growth in her lungs, abdomen, intestines, and spine. Despite trying numerous additional chemotherapy treatments, the cancer has continued to spread at an accelerated rate. Her current treatment option, Doxorubicin, has only a small chance of slowing the disease.
Recently, her oncologist introduced a newer treatment called Trabectedin, a treatment that is showing very promising results and may offer real hope. Her medical team believes this could be the medication that finally makes a meaningful difference.
Unfortunately, because this treatment is so new in Canada, it is not covered, and her medical team has made numerous appeals for funding without success. The cost is overwhelming: $10,000 per round, with six rounds needed to begin treatment, in addition to required injections and medications. The total cost would exceed $60,000.
Anyone who knows my sister knows she is not someone who asks for help easily. In fact, she was very hesitant to fundraise again. But so many people have reached out asking how they can support her during this time, and we wanted to provide a way for those who wish to help to do so.
If you are able to contribute, no amount is too small, and every donation will go directly toward giving her access to this potentially life-extending treatment.
If you are unable to donate, your prayers, messages, and sharing this post mean just as much to us.
Thank you for continuing to stand beside her in this fight. Our family is deeply grateful for every ounce of love and support.
