Hello! I'm Emily, and I'm finishing up my second year of seminary. I am working on a M.Div and am in the ordination track to become a minister in the Lutheran church. I do most of my classes online, but we are required to come to campus to take 10 classes in person.
So far, I have traveled the 13 hour roundtrip to seminary to take required classes in...

Whew! It is hard work, but it is so worth it. To complete my degree I still need to travel to the seminary in...

As you can imagine, these trips become quite expensive. I have to pay for travel, housing, food, books, supplies, and any miscellaneous things that come up. Each trip is anywhere from 6 days to 2 weeks in length. Thankfully, my church blessed me with a $500 scholarship for my trip in October 2016. I was also extremely gratreful to get help from friends and families buying textbooks for my spring 2017 classes.
Now, I need some help to pay for the June 2017 trip. I will be on campus for two weeks. Over the last six months my husband and I have been hit with large expenses including an emergency dental crown, the tie rods in our car going out, the timing chain in our car going out, and 2 extremely expensive surgeries for our cat who had cancer and is, thanks to the surgeries, cured! We are still trying to pay off these expenses. To help out, I have 3 part-time jobs while I go to seminary full-time. I need help paying for my summer semester because of all of these bills.
Please help me raise $1450 to help pay for my summer term at seminary. I will be taking two important classes on leading worship services and presiding over funerals and providing grief care. These classes excite me because they will have so much practical knowledge of how I can care for people in my ministry. I already spent last summer doing my Clinical Pastoral Education as a full-time, unpaid chaplain at a Level 1 trauma center. I know that these classes will continue the important things I learned at the hospital from leading worship, designing a memorial service, and being there for people in their hardest moments. I cannot wait to take these classes!
Here is where the money will be going:
AirBnB ($61 a night) —> $880
Food ($10 a day) ——> $120
Travel Expenses ——> $200
Books and Supplies —> $150
Fees and Misc. ——> $100
GOAL $1450.00
Thank you so much for donating to my education.
