Emily’s Tribe
NEW POST JUNE 2021:
Dear Friends,
Heaven gained a beautiful soul on June 13 when sweet Emily Rominski lost her fight with the rare condition she had, called Atypical Progeria Lipodistrophy. To honor her life, please join us in helping the Rominskis with a memorial gift through Go Fund Me that will go toward:
1. Emily’s Butterfly Garden that will be created in her honor and maintained in memory of her. The location is being determined and will be shared as soon as we have the details finalized.
2. Make-A-Wish Foundation and other charities that supported Emily.
3. Help the family with the funeral expenses.
While a private funeral service will be held for Emily, her family is planning a celebration of life for August 14, which would have been Emily’s 14th and golden birthday. Emily was a loving, kind girl who saw beauty in all of God’s creation. She had such a deep faith for Jesus and was an inspiration in the way she believed and cared for others. Your contribution will go toward helping her family and friends carry on the legacy that her short life leaves behind. Words can’t express the love and support her family has felt from each of you.
Blessings,
Emily’s Tribe
ORIGINAL POST FROM SUMMER 2020:
Hello friends! Emily is a 7th grader from the western suburbs if Chicago who is about to turn 13. The quarantine has been so difficult for her with the condition she has, Atypical Progeria Lipodistrophy, which is where her body has no fat (except in her liver) and she is aging more rapidly. Emily has complications with her heart and kidneys, so keeping her healthy during this pandemic has been vital. Needless to say, it has been a long quarantine for this sweet, friendly and vivacious middle schooler.
So, here’s where you all come in. A few of us have gotten together to throw her what we hope to be the biggest surprise she’s ever experienced. We are planning a huge birthday car parade on Aug 14, to surprise Emily at the house where she will be having ice cream with a few other girls for her birthday. Little does she know that hundreds of people will be showing up for a surprise car parade!
Along with all the homemade cards and gifts being sent, several people asked about a way to contribute money toward a gift for her. We decided this would be the best platform to give Emily some money to buy all the craft and card making supplies her heart desires! And maybe even take her family out to her favorite restaurant, Portillos. She loves their fries!
Thank you for considering the idea to be a part of this special surprise! We are fortunate to have such an amazing community that surrounds others when needed. And we think this is just what Emily needs right now!
