Emily Benitez Terminal Cancer Fund
Donación protegida
My wife is battling terminal cancer and this is our story.
Emily is the love of my life. We have been married for 38 years. She is 56 years old, mother of 2, grandmother, daughter and sister.
March 2018
She was diagnosed with a very rare stage 4 soft tissue cancer called sarcoma. It had already metastasized to the bones, lungs, and liver. The tumors in her spine were extremely painful.
April 2018
Doctors prescribed an oral medication as the first attempt to slow the cancer growth. Her pain continued to increase as the weeks went by.
May 2018
Emily complained of shortness of breath and was admitted to the hospital. After a MRI, we learned her cancer had spread. She attempted 2 doses of IV chemotherapy. Days later her blood pressure dropped and she had an infection. She was moved to the ICU where they found holes in her stomach and air pockets in her bladder. She was not a candidate for surgery and therefore no further treatment options were available.
June 2018
After 22 days in the hospital, we are currently in hospice care with not much time left. She is finally comfortable.
I am writing to raise money to cover some of the hospital and funeral expenses. If you could support my GoFundMe by making a donation, I would greatly appreciate it. Prayers are welcomed!
