Hello loved ones!
In less than three weeks, I will be running the LA Marathon. YIKES.
Training has been hard, but also a gift: I've become so grateful for my health, which allows me to challenge myself physically (and psychologically) in this way. I know this is a privilege that not everyone currently has.
For this reason, I've decided to dedicate my run to the City of Hope, a place that helps people to regain their health--to return to a place where they can face challenges of their choosing, not ones that choose them. COH has helped my mom, Martha, manage multiple myeloma for six years. I have seen firsthand the dedication they put into caring for their patients and seeking cures for cancers and other serious diseases.
If you like me a little, or my mom a lot, please consider contributing to this GoFundme. The money we raise will go directy to COH; you'll be helping my mom and their other patients! I know there are many worthy causes needing our support--especially nowadays--so I'd be incredibly grateful for any amount you can spare. But, here are a few symbolic gifts in case you need a little guidance:
- $10.00 (my goal average mile time)
- $20.00 (to remind me to keep pushing at mile 20)
- $30 (the number of new drugs COH is currently developing)
- $300 (a dollar for every patient at COH)
**If there is someone specific you'd like to honor with your donation, please let me know (in the message box or via email). I will write their name on my bib**
Lots of love (and sore muscles and blisters),
Emily
