Emily's Run 2024 for the Pencarrow Nurses Fund
Donation protected
On Saturday 15th December 2018, our lives changed forever.
Whilst walking home from work shortly after 9pm, Emily was devastatingly the victim of a fatal hit-and-run.
After a brave battle for her life, we sadly said "goodnight" on Wednesday 19th December 2018.
~
Emily was an incredibly hardworking, compassionate and empathetic young lady. At the age of 19 she attended college on a Monday, helped in a local primary school Tuesday til Friday (whilst completing an apprenticeship to become a Level 3 Early Years Educator), and then worked most of her weekend in The Range. It is difficult to fathom how many lives she touched with her gentle nature, beautiful smile, and infectious laugh!
Following the hit-and-run, Emily was transferred to Derriford Hospital where she received outstanding care from her team of nurses on Pencarrow Ward (part of the Intensive Care Unit). From the moment Emily arrived on the ward, she was shown love and kindness and treated with nothing but respect. That high level of care extended to the rest of Emily's family and has left a lasting impression in our hearts. Even beyond Emily's final moments, the support received has been exceptionally heartfelt.
This is why (for the second year in a row), we are holding a fundraising event to raise money for the Pencarrow Nurses Fund. Funds donated are used to purchase things for Pencarrow that the nurses have identified they need, as well as support nurse wellbeing, education and study.
Emily's Run:
Running is now a huge part of Emily’s Mum, Jackie’s life, so with the support of the Purple Heart Runners on Sunday 3rd March 2024 at 9am, a 10k run in Exeter starting at Dan Hall Fitness will be held to raise money for the Pencarrow Nurse Fund.
Please join us for Emily's Run.
