Hi, my name is Emily, and recently my life changed in an instant after a serious car accident.
I sustained multiple injuries that required hip and ankle surgeries, along with treatment for a head injury. It has been one of the most frightening and humbling experiences I’ve ever faced. I’m still processing not only the physical trauma, but what it means to rebuild after something so sudden and life-altering.
Before the accident, I was deeply committed to building a meaningful and intentional future. I’m studying philosophy with a focus on ethics, with long-term goals of attending graduate school and eventually working in Washington, DC in spaces centered on diplomacy, dialogue, and helping people navigate complex conversations. I care deeply about people, systems, and using my life in a way that contributes something thoughtful and constructive to the world.
Right now, my world looks very different. I am non weight bearing, unable to work, and fully focused on physical therapy and rehabilitation. My days are spent learning how to move safely again, managing pain, and rebuilding basic independence. The practical realities of recovery have been overwhelming. I created this fundraiser because the financial burden of healing adds up quickly when your life is suddenly paused. Medical bills, ongoing physical therapy, mobility equipment, transportation to appointments, and basic living expenses have become difficult to manage while I’m unable to work.
Asking for help does not come easily to me, but I’m learning that healing is not meant to be done alone. Any support whether through a donation or simply sharing this page helps give me the space to focus fully on recovery and eventually return to the path I was on, carrying this experience with deeper perspective and gratitude for life.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for being part of this chapter of my journey.
Your kindness means more than I can express.
