Hi, my name is Emily, and recently my life changed in an instant after a serious car accident. I sustained multiple injuries that required hip and ankle surgeries, along with treatment for a head injury. It has been one of the most painful and disorienting experiences of my life, and I am still learning how to process both the physical trauma and the reality of rebuilding after something so sudden.
Before the accident, my life was full of momentum. I was working, studying, planning for the future, and moving through life with a sense of independence that I never imagined could disappear overnight. Now, my days look very different. I am non weight bearing, unable to work, and fully focused on physical therapy and recovery. Much of my time is spent learning how to move safely again, managing pain, and trying to regain pieces of normalcy that once felt automatic.
What has surprised me most about recovery is how humbling it is. There is a quiet emotional weight that comes with losing your mobility and independence so suddenly. Even simple tasks require patience, help from others, and a level of vulnerability I am still learning to accept. Healing is not linear, and some days feel heavier than others, but I am doing everything I can to keep moving forward.
I created this fundraiser because the financial impact of recovery has become overwhelming. Between surgeries, medical bills, physical therapy, transportation to appointments, mobility equipment, and basic living expenses, the costs add up quickly when your life is unexpectedly put on pause and you are unable to work.
Asking for help does not come naturally to me, but this experience has taught me that healing is not something we are meant to carry alone. Any support, whether through a donation or simply sharing this page, genuinely means more than I can express. It gives me the ability to focus on recovery and rebuilding my life with less fear about how I will manage the practical realities of all of this.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for being part of this chapter of my life. Your kindness, support, and compassion mean more to me than words can fully capture.
