EDIT: May 29th, 2024 Shawn and Emily will go back for her SECOND Brain surgery on her other side (MoyaMoya cerebral bypass ). This is a life saving surgery as it is progressive and the only treatment is surgery. Moyamoya affects only 1 in every million people in the United States!

Emily lives in VA and her surgery will be done once again in NYC. This fundraiser will help cover all her travel expense, and the crazy medical cost. Additionally, Emily will be out of work for 6 month for recovery, so the money will help bridge the gap some.

She was able to raise $5000 last year. I KNOW we can do that again!!

She is a mom of two precious little girls, a wife to a supportive husband, an AMAZING nurse practitioner, a bad ass sister, a great daughter and a friend to so many!

Original post: At the end of September Emily was diagnosed with a progressive brain disease called Moyamoya. This illness causes the main vessels in her brain to narrow and can often cause problems such as strokes, which she also unfortunately has had. It is progressive as there is no cure and surgery is the only treatment. On Saturday Jan 7th, 2023 Shawn and Emily headed to New York City, where she has undergone a brain bypass revascularization surgery on MCAs.

on Jan 11th Emily had her first surgery, she will undergo a test tomorrow (Jan 17th to determine if her other side will need to be done).
