Hello! My name is Emily Holland. I am currently a Sophomore at St. Petersburg College and will be getting my A.A. once I complete this spring semester. I am apart of a program called FUSE in which I am following a specific degree plan and maintaining the required GPA. This pathway guarantees me admission into USF, where I will aim to receive my B.A. in Psychology as a first generation student, graduating in 2028. Going to SPC first to receive my associates, instead of directly attending USF, not only helped me financially while I was gaining residency, but it also presented me with the opportunity to Study Abroad. While taking my required language courses, Spanish 1&2, I applied with a friend and got accepted into the program. This study abroad program takes place in summer and is a 3-week Advanced Spanish course in Salamanca, Spain. I will be living with a host family where I will get to experience their culture not only through class, but also through the food, weekend excursions, and interactions with the people of Spain. I believe this program will strengthen my understanding and confidence in speaking Spanish with real life experience. With this education I am hoping to improve my communication skills, in order to assist both English and Spanish speakers with my Psychology degree.
