Emily's Health Journey

Hello!! So much has happened in my life since my last update. My kids are growing up, I've had to have a few more surgeries, I'm still going to dialysis three days a week, I've recovered from Covid-19, celebrated twenty five years of marriage, lost a pet, and been called twice for a kidney transplant!! Each time I was offered a kidney there was a minor issue preventing me from receiving that precious gift. I'm still feeling positive about my future and know when the time is right, it will happen. Each call/offer for a kidney has helped us hone and tweak our plans for during and after my life-changing surgery. A very real worry though, is how we are going to cover all of expenses associated with my post transplant needs. We'll be making several trips back to U of M for check-ups, so gas will be a huge expense. Jason will be my primary care giver for the first few weeks which means a loss of income from his job.
