Emily's Broken Sternum

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Emily (Kimberly) Sharp, and I am reaching out to my friends and loved ones and anyone feels inclined to help. On August 16th at 8:00 a.m. I was on my way to bring my son Oliver to school. As we were driving, I did something that most people do countless times, and glanced to change the radio station. In that moment, traffic also came to an abrupt stop.

I slammed my 2015 Ford Escape into the rear of a two-story car hauler at 55 miles an hour. Airbags deployed and the entire front end was instantly destroyed. By some wonderful miracle my 15-year-old son came away from the accident with minor bruising. I was not as lucky.

I sustained a broken sternum, probable liver contusion and several other less severe, but challenging injuries. I am currently at home healing, but I am requiring a great deal of assistance even just to travel from one room to another. The typical time spent healing for a broken sternum is 8-10 weeks.

Very fortunately, I have an amazing boyfriend, Paul, who is physically tending to me as I heal and offering as much in person love and care as he can.

The nature of the job that I work as a home health attendant requires physical maneuvering and lifting that I will be incapable of until this is healed. This means that until I can either get back to work or find employment with fewer physical requirements, I have a complete halt on income.

Due to other severe health issues that I have had over the last 6 months, there was a period of time where I had become unemployed, and I had fallen behind on rent. Once I became employed again, every penny that I was making was going towards that past due amount. This means that at the time of my accident my vehicle was uninsured. Understandably, this is causing a number of problems for me.

Additionally, the day after the accident l informed my landlord that I would not be able to work for the next 2 months. I had almost completely caught up on my past due balance. His response was to issue me a 10-day notice for eviction proceeding. The amount needed to avoid eviction is $2,100

Furthermore, I will need as much help as possible for cost of living and rent until I am healed and back to work. The amount for just rent and utilities for 2 months is $3000

If you have read this far, I would like to thank you for your time and consideration. I know that we are all doing our best to make it through challenging times, and I appreciate anything you think you might be able to do to help me through this.

Please also know that I have been reaching out to and applying for any assistance that I may be able to access. If I am able to acquire assistance via other methods I will remove this fundraiser.
