Hello!
My name is Emily Nancy Guthrie, and I'm a singer-songwriter from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. In 2015, I graduated from MacEwan University in Edmonton with a B.Mus, and have since been working towards a new record - the reason for this campaign!

This 5-song EP of all original music will be my first major recording in six years, and will include three new tunes written during my residency at the Banff Centre this past January. This project is very special to me as it is both a chance to share new music that is truly representative of my current sound and artistry, as well as an opportunity to collaborate with many of my talented friends!
The album is being engineered, produced, mixed and mastered by my good friend and peer Brian Raine at his home studio here in Edmonton.

I will be joined on the tracks by my wonderful band, The Wildflowers, made up of Kate Blechinger on backup vocals and electric upright bass, Mallory Chipman on backup vocals and percussion, and Brett Hansen on acoustic and electric guitars.

The gorgeous illustrations of Nicholas Johnson will appear on the album artwork as well as limited edition buttons created specifically for this campaign, with both designs featuring an "Alberta Wildflowers" theme.

Finally, my partner Michael Plouffe will work on the text design for the album artwork, as well as digital formatting for the album artwork and "Alberta Wildflowers" buttons, helping to make sure they are printed correctly by the manfacturer.
All elements of this process have been lovingly planned out by me with invaluable assistance and advice given by all of the individuals listed above. Brian and I have already begun our work in the studio and are nearly ready to bring in the band - this is where you come in!
A recording project like this one comes with many expenses, and requires the work and time of several talented people. The budget for this project is $7840.00, and we need your help to fund this so we can create a finished project that we are proud of and that you will love to listen to!

My approach to songwriting has always focused on storytelling and human connection through shared emotions and experiences, and I strive to reach and move as many people as I can with my music. I am so grateful and humbled by any and all support that helps me to reach that goal by releasing this record.
