Hello, lovely people! If you are reading this, thank you. Just by you reading this, I know that you care about and support me.
I am Emily Kerr, and I'm a Freshman at Liberty University. A few weeks ago during our Convocation, they announced that over spring break, there would be several different international trips that would fulfill academic credit. One of the trips they announced was to Israel. I didn't think much about it, but then I looked into it, and it completely caught my attention. I immediately felt God tugging on my heart to go. I wasn't sure why since, in all honesty, my relationship with Him hasn't been that strong. Going to Israel is something that I have always wanted to do, especially on a mission trip. So, I applied for the trip, but didn't get my hopes up to be accepted because I knew how many people had/were applied/applying. But, lo and behold, I got accepted! So now, I am so excited to announce that I will be traveling to Israel with LU Send over my spring break in March! And one of the best parts? I get academic credit for serving others and walking where Jesus walked! How great is that?!
During this trip, I will walk in the footsteps of Jesus. I will visit key biblical cities like Bethlehem, Capernaum, Galilee, Nazareth, and Jerusalem. I will also see some of the most important sites in Scripture like the Dead Sea, the Jordan River, the Via Dolorosa, the Garden of Gethsemane, and the Garden Tomb of Jesus. I will engage in discussions about Jewish-Christian-Muslim relations, encounter survivors of the Holocaust, and learn what life is like in present-day Israel. During the mission side of the trip, I will serve among refugee populations, do community outreach to Arabs, participate in hands-on medical relief work, spend time with the physically and mentally challenged children of the country, and engage locals while I work alongside them in sustainable and urban gardening efforts.
With this trip comes great financial expenses. I need to raise $3600 in order to go on this trip, $800 of which needs to be raised by November 15th (which is this weekend. Ahhh!) My listed goal is $4000, because with international trips, there are always unexpected financial needs. I am trusting in God that the funds will come in. He has never failed me in this way, having been on three mission trips to Haiti. That being said, I need your help. The money that I raise through your donations will cover airfare, accomadations, breakfast and dinners, site entrance fees, transportation from Lynchburg to Washington D.C. as well as in Israel, insurance, incidentals, taxes, and tips. The payment plan that I am required to follow is this:
December 1, 2015 - $500
January 1, 2016 - $1,000
February 1, 2016 - $2,100
So, how can you help? One way that you can help is by providing monetary donations. Any money that you donate towards my trip will be such a blessing. I am so thankful that people believe in missions, and are willing to donate towards them. Another way that you can help is through prayer. Pray for God to provide the finances, safety during the trip, our team's health, and that God would use us in bigger ways than we could ever imagine. I am so excited, I can't wait to see how God will use me through this trip.
Thank you all so much for your support! It really does mean the world to me!
In Christ,
Emily Kerr
