Hello dear friends, I hope this note finds you and your family well :)
I'm doing this GoFundMe page for my sweet daughter, Emily. She actually does not even know about it at this point. She (we, really) could use some financial help getting her in school for the term starting 9/23 (next week!). She thought funding was covered and in the bag but just discovered that's not the case : (
As many of you may know, Emily wants to be a TraumaOne Flight Paramedic. This is a goal she has been working towards for years now. She was an IB student at PMHS and took the Medical Academy all 4 years, including shadowing at Flagler Hospital for her senior year. Throughout that time she went on Fire Dept Ridealongs and fell in love with the First Responder side of the medical industry. The last two summers she was employed with SJC Fire & Marine Rescue as a beach lifeguard. She has worked tirelessly training for the physical side of it and passed the rigorous Firefighting Agility Test last week! Next, she should be starting schooling in a week for the EMT training and then in January starting the Paramedic portion. BUT the Pell Grant she was awarded does not cover the EMT course : (
Our family has had a tough year with health issues, finances, car trouble and even a death. When things started to get tight, Emily, without blinking an eye and without even being asked - contributed her entire savings. She has also recently given most all of her paychecks to help the family get back on our feet. Her generous spirit and faith that God will provide what is needed when it's needed, constantly warms my heart. She is one of the most loving, thoughtful, and humble teens you will come across. I could go on and on but most everyone that has met her knows this too and can also vouch for her character.
She is applying for other scholarships, grants and loans. But even if they come through, with the timeline being so tight there is a good chance it won't be here in time for school to start. Though it may help with additional school expense along the way. She recently told me she is going to reach out to a couple different family members for a loan and that got me to thinking, maybe I could also reach out to friends and family to pitch-in.
