Emily Walsh’s Recovery Fund hosted by Aunts Marti & Barb
Donation protected
Our 40-year old niece, Emily Kline Walsh, who lives in Naples, FL, had an accident at home in late June and suffered a broken femur. After successful surgery, she was transferred to in-person rehabilitation to regain her mobility. Unfortunately a series of cascading events led to the need for a blood transfusion. The transfusion caused a TRALI (Transfusion Related Acute Lung Injury), which was quite unexpected and added significantly to the overall cost due to emergency rehospitalization in the ICU for 4 days with immediate intubation for fluid and lung inflammation. After release from ICU, she spent 2 more days in the hospital and then returned to the in-patient rehab facility for more PT and OT. She is recovering slowly, and because husband Kyle is a charter boat fisherman, he has had to skip work during this difficult time. Kyle’s wonderful colleagues and marina are hosting a fundraiser for the next 2 weeks, to help cover some of their mounting expenses. Many friends have asked about a Go Fund Me campaign, and her Aunt Barb and I are happy to host this! Although Em has medical insurance through her employer, our goal is for her to be up on her feet, happy and healthy, and back at work, without crushing hospital co-pays. No gift is too small and your well wishes are so appreciated!
