In loving memory of my beautiful daughter, Emily Marina Patel.

No words can ever describe what the loss of Emily truly means. And yet, she is still present in our hearts, and lives within and with me every single day!

Emily is remembered by everyone for her kindness, compassion, empathy, and care. She tragically passed away on 13th January 2022, at the age of 24.

I am Zorica Patel, Emily’s proud mother. Together with Savanna (her best friend), Oliver (her brother), and Mirjana (her aunty), we have created and published a special book, to honour Emily's life and commemorate her profound legacy.

This book, Ability to Overcome, features Emily’s best poems, song lyrics, and short stories. Emily was a prolific writer and poet, with a special talent for communicating her deepest thoughts and feelings through engaging and emotive prose.

This book celebrates Emily’s incredible life and her passion and talent for writing, poetry, and storytelling. Ability to Overcome contains dozens of poems, song lyrics, and short stories that Emily wrote throughout her life, as well as special messages and poems about her from others. It is a way for those that loved and knew her to connect with her today.

Savanna Bunney, the wonderful artist, created amazing visuals and worked on the overall technical production of the book.
