Emily Onik was a beloved wellness and yoga teacher in our school district, remembered for her passion for movement and her dedication to improving the health and happiness of others. Last year, Emily passed away after a courageous battle with ALS, a cruel illness that took away her ability to move—the part of life she cherished most. Her spirit, kindness, and love for travel touched countless lives, and her legacy continues to inspire those who knew her.

In Emily’s honor, I am creating a memorial scholarship to send a deserving student on a life-changing trip to Costa Rica this summer. The student will have the chance to practice yoga on the beach, go horseback riding, hike through a cloud forest, and volunteer at an animal rescue center. These experiences reflect Emily’s adventurous spirit and her commitment to wellness, nature, and service. I believe she would be proud to see her legacy carried forward in this way, benefiting the youth she cared for so deeply.
