- So... as you may already know, my wife has been in the hospital for a couple of weeks. First she was at Memorial Hospital in North Conway, and now at Dartmouth Hitchcock. She’s been dealing with bowel obstructions, and adhesions since last September and it’s become serious. For the past 3yrs she’s also been dealing with chronic diarrhea and has loss significant weight and hasn’t been able to gain a pound. With the obstructions she’s had 6 operations including an hysterectomy and has had a serious issue with trying to heal. She had an emergency operation last Wednesday at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital. She’s had multiple CT scans, X-rays, ultrasounds and constant blood work while being at Dartmouth. Since she hasn’t been to gain any weight and now suffering with severe malabsorption, they now have her connected to what is call a PICC line and is receiving TPN. Basically a catheter that’s attached in the upper arm main artery that leads towards the heart and the nutrients will be absorbed via the blood stream and digested straight to the colon. The hope is that while she receives TPN that her body will regain the strength to heal. TPN is literally liquid nutrition that is pumped in thru the PICC line. Since Wednesday I’ve been driving down (2hrs each way) to be with her and talk to doctors and the nurses. The situation has become very serious and scary! The team of doctors and surgeons and the nurses have been amazing here at Dartmouth Medical Hospital. Not knowing when she’ll be coming is still not on the plate at this point. Emily has always been my rock and seeing her in such discomfort and pain, my heart hurts as I write this. Emily is a fighter! With this GoFundMe I’m asking for any donations to help us thru this unbearable time. It's humbling to even ask for help.
