For Emily & her family during cancer treatment

Donation protected
Hi everyone. I'm Nicole, Emily's sister.

Em was diagnosed with breast cancer last fall - just 7 months after we lost our dad to cancer. She just started a new job last spring - a brand new position in county government. Her husband, Jacy, also took a new position in local government last year - a smaller paycheck but the chance for better long-term benefits. Em's request to work from home part-time during treatment wasn't approved, so her paychecks have been paused since November. Her position was grant funded, but two weeks ago the funder pulled the grant. She lost her job.

Em is now unemployed, so she and Jacy are trying to stay afloat on one government salary. Jacy has started to pick up some side jobs, but they could really use a bit of help through this. I'm sure you can imagine the anxiety that's underpinning everything right now.

Em and Jacy have raised their family in Las Vegas. Their oldest, Kaya, just moved into their first apartment last summer. Their youngest, Gunnar, just tolerated a Happy 15th Birthday song from all of us in early February. They've always rounded out their family with a full house of rescued pets, and right now they're supporting two dogs, four cats, and two rabbits. Em has such a good heart and has helped so many people over the years. She had to take a break during treatment, but she's been an active speaker and advocate for substance abuse and recovery for 10 years.

I've set this up in hopes of taking one stressor away from Em and the family. Wouldn't it be nice if Em could finish her last round of chemo and get through surgery without wondering if they can pay their mortgage, buy groceries, feed their pets, and make the monthly insurance payments to finish her treatment?

We don't like asking for help. There a lot of people going through difficult situations. But the last few years have been really hard on us. This $8000 request is a little arbitrary and pretty conservative for what they might really need. I'd love to pool enough resources to cover 6 months of lost income, but anything at all will help. I just want Em to have a clear head and positive frame of mind to keep the cancer at bay. I want Jacy to be there for Em, not working two jobs and wondering how they're going to get through this.

No amount is too small. We don't need to know who you are. Any anonymous donation will go directly to Em and Jacy to just pay their bills and finish Em's cancer treatments.

We can't offer much in return except the comfort of knowing we'll do the same for you if our positions were ever reversed. So, thank you thank you thank you for anything you can share.
