Regeneration of the Brazilian Atlantic Rainforest

Donation protected

We all know we are in a climate crisis. What you may not know is that The Atlantic Rainforest, one of the most important biodiversity hotspots on Earth, is critically endangered.

Over 90% of the Atlantic Rainforest has been lost and replaced by human modified landscapes. These rainforests, the lungs of the Earth, are home to many communities, they are crucial to the future of our World.

I have embarked on a journey to help save the rainforest with an amazing team of specialist leaders from 6 different Countries across the world, helping the Iracambi Conservation and Research Center regenerate the rainforest.

Over the past 21 years, Iracambi has planted over 150,000 native forest trees and restored a large portion of the Atlantic Rainforest. This year, we want to get them to their goal of planting at LEAST 10,000 more native forest trees.

We have a simple brief from the Iracambi Conservation and Research Center:
'to make the regeneration of the rainforest more attractive than its destruction'.

We are working on this brief for 6 weeks,  each investing 2 hours of our own time a day to develop a sustainable strategy that will help regenerate the rainforest and leave a true lasting, impactful legacy for Iracambi.

Now I need to ask for your help!

I would love you to help me with the fundraising section of this project, please dig deep and donate whatever you can to help us regenerate this beautiful part of the World this is so critical to the biodiversity of planet Earth.

Thank you so much for reading this, I hope you are inspired and able to donate
whatever you can  x

About The Atlantic Rainforest & Iracambi

Iracambi is a conservation and research centre located in one of the world’s top biodiversity hotspots, Brazil’s Atlantic Forest. Their objective is to figure out better ways of forest care and to protect Brazil’s extraordinary biodiversity while generating forest-based incomes and raising living standards for local communities.

Iracambi Saving Forests Changing Lives

Less than one-tenth of one of the richest bio-diverse tropical forests in the Western Hemisphere remains the Atlantic Forest of Brazil. This is one of the world’s most threatened biomes and it once covered a million and a half sq km – an area about three times the size of France. Today it covers less than

120,000 sq km (the size of the state of Louisiana). It is still being cut: from 2018 to 2019 an equivalent of 6.000 football fields were cut from the state of Minas Gerais alone, where Iracambi is located. The reason is that smallholder farmers are pushed by economic necessity to maintain their income levels in the only way they know: to increase their area of cultivable land they cut the forest. Iracambi aims to confront this threat by working with the community to make the conservation of the forest more attractive than its destruction.

The funds will contribute to:

- Planting trees
- Continue offering environmental education in the area of Mina Gerais.
